A social cause was undertaken by Gurukul Global School, Chandigarh. To
beat the scorching sun and heat, the drivers and conductors of Gurukul
Global School arranged a Chabeel(A place where cold water is served),
where they handed out cold sweetened water to passersby. A Prasad of halwa
chana was also distributed. The Drivers and conductors were seen
enthusiastically stopping the passersby and serving them Prasad and
offering them the cold refreshing drink, which helped in beating the hot
climate. All passers by enjoyed the cold sweetened water and thanked the
drivers and conductors for their kind gesture.
One of the passerby, an old man on his bicycle mentioned to Ranjeet, a
conductor who offered him a glass of sweetened water, “Dhanyawaad beta,
Jug Jug Jiyo”. Another man who was tired of walking on the long stretch of
road which has no public water taps mentioned, “aapney bahut achha kaam
kiya hai beta”. Paras, a conductor reported that all the people he served
the sweetened water thanked him and blessed him. He also mentioned that
since the long road adjoining police station Manimajra and Gurukul global
School had no water taps and any kind of shop, the people who were tired
of walking on the long stretch under scorching sun found this noble cause
very helpful and generous. It quenched their thirst and gave them a relief
from the heat.
Mr. Chaman Lal, transport in-charge, mentioned that this is the first
initiative of such kind from the drivers and conductors and praised his
team for taking initiative and carrying out the task successfully. He
quoted that around 2000 people were served the cold sweetened water, which
included people from all sections of society. They even stopped buses and
offered their services to people onboard.
The day ended on a note with the team of drivers and conductors exhausted
and tired but with a smile of satisfaction of their face. |
