Gurukul Globalites at NASA
Gurukul Global School, IT Park, Chandigarh ventured into Space Science and a world of fantasy through a 15 days trip to NASA, Houston, Florida, Universal Studios, Disney World and Sea World. It was a fortnight programme which aimed at engaging students in engineering missions, robotics, and rocket launchers. They also got to interact with NASA scientists and engineers and went on an exclusive tour of the Johnson Space Centre, Houston.
This was a unique trip to the USA designed to inspire, excite and motivate students about Science and Space Research. The children spent a week at NASA, which involved them in many brainstorming sessions and challenging projects. The visit came as a great opportunity for students to interact with other students who had gathered there from different parts of our country. They will probably, never be able to forget the innovative and daunting tasks that they were presented with. Getting a chance to operate the coveted Mars Rovers and the amazing under-water tasks that they accomplished were undoubtedly, the highlights of the trip. Tanya of class X, made the school proud by winning heaps of appreciation and a medal for her monumental contribution in the above mentioned tasks. The visit culminated with a Graduation Ceremony followed by a sumptuous dinner.
Hazel, Eshaan, Prachi and Chahat exalted, “One moment our pen mind halts at the memories that we made while designing rockets, mars rovers, giving presentations and interacting with the staff members at the Johnson Space Centre, while the other, it tip-toes to the memories that we made during our shopping sprees, on visits to the Disney World, Universal Studios and Sea World.”
Dawalpreet and Amaritya shared, “The trip invoked seeds of team spirit within our personalities and helped us realize the value of team spirit and collaborative effort”. Dilpreet Kaur, class X found the visit, “ as an inspirational experience that helped her get a hands on experience of rocket launching and space science”.
It was an experience of a life time in true sense of the word and the memories and moments that they experienced abound to remain embedded in their hearts for all times to come.
In the words of Principal, Mrs. Aruna Bhardwaj ,”This was a lifetime experience for the students to turn them into wholesome personalities. It gave them a candid exposure to the latest development in the field of Science and Technology. It further helped in giving them a global exposure and honed their personality traits and scientific temperaments”.
